The Ranchers Guides
Deep walkthroughs for every major system — from your first day on the ranch to late-game exploration and profit.
Welcome to the central guide hub for The Ranchers, RedPilz Studio’s open-world country-life sim now live in Steam Early Access since July 30, 2026. Whether you played the Steam Next Fest demo or you bought at launch, these guides answer the questions players search for most: how to start strong, how farming and ranching actually work, how co-op fits into daily chores, and how to turn a patch of Sunvale countryside into a profitable ranch.
How to use this guide section
Each guide below focuses on one pillar of the game. They cross-link to our wiki database for reference tables including the NPCs page, the tier list hub for profitability rankings, and update pages for patch notes and pricing. Start with the getting started guide if you are brand new, then follow the walkthrough for quest order before branching into farming or animals.
Core gameplay pillars
Farming and crops form your most reliable early income. Clearing land, preparing soil with a hoe, buying seeds from Youssef, and protecting fields with scarecrows are all covered in the farming guide. Animal ranching adds milk, wool, and eggs once you build barns and coops — see the animals guide for feeding automation and breeding basics.
Building and infrastructure tie everything together: workbenches, water towers, electricity contracts at city hall, and farmhouse customization. The building guide explains placement and upgrades. Co-op for 1–4 players lets friends join through the in-game train station without loading screens; the co-op guide covers role division and shared ranch management.
Exploration and combat push beyond the farm gate into mines, dungeons, and wild islands where monsters guard rare minerals. Read the exploration guide before venturing deep. Dedicated pages cover mining, combat, and crafting pipelines. The quests guide walks intro villager chains and main story progression. Vehicles — especially the pickup truck — dramatically cut travel time across the 16 km² map; the vehicles guide walks through early unlock steps and the June 2026 driving overhaul. Smartphone apps including My Garage manage repairs and impounds — see the apps guide. Travel across Sunvale uses subway lines, overnight parking, and skip-driving on quests — covered in the travel guide. Town activities like fishing, festivals, and cooking break up ranch chores — see the activities guide. Finally, the economy guide covers the auction market, utility contracts, and money-making priorities.
Early Access is live
The Ranchers launched Early Access on July 30, 2026 at $24.99 with a $22.49 intro offer until August 6. Learn controls on the keyboard page, check system requirements, and read the Early Access overview. Guides expand with confirmed item IDs, quest chains, and patch-specific tips as RedPilz ships updates — hotfix 0.8.10.455 already addressed co-op join and offline mode issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which guide should I read first in The Ranchers?
Start with the getting started guide, then the walkthrough for quest order. Both cover land clearing, your first workbench, electricity at city hall, and earliest money sources.
Do these guides work for co-op?
Yes. Co-op uses the same ranch systems; the co-op guide explains how to split roles so one player farms while another explores or handles building.
Are guides updated after Early Access patches?
We update guides when RedPilz changes mechanics. Check the last updated date on each page and the updates hub for patch notes.
Where can I find item and animal stats?
